Why Buying Too-Cheap BMX Parts Is A Mistake

March 8th, 2010

BMX is one of the most thrilling and exciting sports around. One of its major annoyances however is the frequency with which parts and components break or bend and need replacing. To cope with this constant need for part replacement some riders will always opt for the cheapest BMX parts they can find. This however can be a false economy and, in some cases, can even be dangerous.

Firstly, cheap BMX parts will often have little of the care and control that goes into making quality branded BMX parts. As a result they may not be able to withstand the full pressures of BMX riding and may be more prone to stress damage. The rider may therefore end up having to buy a replacement part far sooner than would normally be expected, leading over time to the rider actually spending far more on ‘cheap’ parts than would have been the case with quality branded BMX parts.

Secondly, cheap BMX parts may not be fully compatible with a rider’s bike. This is a mistake that is easy to make given that most outlets selling cheap parts will often have little expert BMX knowledge. The result can be being saddled with BMX parts that do not fit, parts that hamper handling and performance, or even parts that can become dangerously unsecure when riding.

At BMX.co.uk we only stock high quality BMX parts, such as redline BMX parts, and can offer expert advice on which are most suitable for each bike. Moreover, because we understand that budgets are tight, we always make sure our prices are extremely competitive.
