It comes as a surprise for many riders that a top brand BMX frame or bike may well be made in Taiwan. In fact, Taiwanese-made BMX bikes and frames are regarded by many in the BMX world as equal – and sometimes superior – to any BMX frame or bike made in the United States or indeed anywhere else in the world.

Many BMX companies, particularly those originally formed by celebrated BMX professionals and which often therefore lack a strong manufacturing tradition, have increasingly found that plants in the Far East can offer them high quality BMX production output at economical rates. In fact it is probably the case now that more BMX bikes and parts are made in Far Eastern countries than in any other location worldwide. Of all the Far Eastern plants it has tended to be those in Taiwan which have proven to be particularly successful at meeting the high standards demanded by today’s BMX companies.

The benefits of producing top BMX brands in Taiwan and other Far Eastern countries cut both ways however; plants in these countries have used their relationship with celebrated brands to strengthen their knowledge and experience of BMX. In this way they are able to increase their influence on the international BMX scene, both abroad and within their own territories.
